Food Storage
Some people call Mormons hoarders when they find out about the mormon doctrine of food storage. For the last several decades, modern prophets have been preaching to members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints the need to have both 72-hour kits and a year’s supply of food to prepare for an emergency. In recent years, the year supply has been modified to a three-month supply of food the family normally eats, plus a nine-month supply of basic staples like wheat, sugar, powdered milk, water, etc. In most cases, the year supply of food is useful to families who fall on hard times, so they can still be self-sufficient.
